Stock up during Back-To-School

Help your budget and take advantage of the BTS sales now

Here’s an idea list of what to look for and snap up for stocking stuffers, gifts for family and friends of all ages, teacher appreciations, white elephant swaps, birthdays, etc. Keep your eyes and imaginations open!

Check the not-so-obvious stores – sporting goods, office supplies, craft stores, bookstores, even home improvement!

  • Backpacks make great ‘gift wrap’ for hard-to-disguise presents
  • New pencils, pens, and notebooks get January started on the right foot
  • New crayons – what IS it about the smell of a new box of Crayolas that instantly take us back to being 5 or 6??
  • Glue sticks – seriously, can’t have enough of those!
  • Construction or colored printer paper – don’t forget the scissors
  • Chapter books encourage reading and imagination
  • Practice workbooks to sharpen skills that get a little dull during holiday and winter breaks
  • Glitter pens and a funky notebook are the beginnings of a journal filled with thoughts, feelings and dreams
  • Glitter and character phone cases
  • Pencil cases in every color of the rainbow. Hey – they can double as ‘gift wrap’
  • Adult coloring books for the artist in us all
  • Colored artist pencils and fine-tipped markers in many color collections, including watercolor and botanicals. Don’t forget a nice sketchbook!
  • Office supplies aren’t boring anymore – metallics of all hues, cartoon, and animal themes, oversized, high-tech, low tech
  • Funky-designed sticky notes, colored paper clips, erasers
  • Back-to-dorm (and the clearance afterward) can yield deals on fun pillows, bedding, lamps, mini-fridges, storage
  • Character or favorite colored cups, thermos, tumblers, lunch kits
  • You might find first-aid supplies on sale for BTS. How about a few boxes with a beloved character?
  • T-shirts, underwear, socks – yeah, you know someone’s gonna need new ones
  • Sunglasses and hats are handy year-round
  • Storage and organization pieces can lend a hand any time of the year
